Hello again!
Since my previous post was a BFS Army Order I decided I will talk about BFS this time!
I first heard Bowling for Soup by accident. I was about 13, 14 and going down the emo road. I was downloading Simple Plan songs and for some reason BFS song “Almost” was downloaded as a Simple Plan’s. I heard it and liked it! Then decided to check their other songs, like The Bitch Song, 1985, Punk Rock 101… and got easily addiceted to them!
Got as many BFS albums I could and listened to them 24/7 for a while, Girl All The Bad Guys Want was my alarm in the morning! My sister, who isn’t much of a BFS fan, used to tell me (and still does!) that all of their songs are the same thing. I totally disagree with that!
The result of that “accident” was that I (fortunately) didn’t turn into an emo kid. That’s what BFS does to you I guess. Their songs are all about cheering you up, helping you get out of a funk. Great for when I’m on PMS and just wanna crawl into bed and cry/sleep!
After a few months of listening to them I sort of forgot about their existence.
Last year, when My Wena was out and I heard it, I was like “Woow. Why don’t I listen to BFS anymore?” I “became a fan” of the Bowling for Soup Facebook page (yes, back then you still became a fan of things!) and started to watch out for the news that were posted there and saw them asking their fans to join the BFS Army (picture on the top of the post), which I did. But back then I was still getting over the whole I-don’t-play-tibia-anymore thing, checked the orders but didn’t even complete de bootcamp (is that term correct?) , I checked the General Store and drooled over the stuff we could get “for free” from it. But then I thought to myself “I will never earn enough points to exchange them for the shirts, cds, or whathever items they have here!”, and then deleted the account.
In the beginig of the year I reconsidered and joined the Army again. This time I started reading the forums they have in there and saw how awesome the other teamers were. Then I gave it a try and now I’m a proud Sergeant of the Army. The only thing that still gets me down tough is how few Brazilians are there. I even tried posting on the forums in Portuguese, recruited the people from the BFS Orkut* group, got a couple of them to sign up but it doesn’t seem to be growing as much as I expected. At least I know for sure I’m not alone there anymore! :D
I hope eventually I can get more people from the group to make the army stronger and maybe convice the Brazilian promoters that they have to get BFS here.
Now, returning to the part on which I talk about the band!
According to Wikipedia “Bowling for Soup (also abbreviated BFS) is an American pop-punk band which originally formed in Wichita Falls, Texas in 1994. Now based in Denton, Texas, the band is best known for its singles ”Girl All the Bad Guys Want,” (a 2003 Grammy Award nominee) “Almost,” “High School Never Ends,” and “1985.” ” (Source: Wikipedia )
In my humble opinion, they are the awesomest band in the world. Jaret claims that the reason the band is still together and works out so fine is because they have fun doing what they do. And I surely bet so! Even though I can’t quite understand how Jaret manages to do all the work he does. (Maybe he has a Time-Turner, like Hermione Granger?)
Anyway, my point is: Bowling for Soup works miracles with people. It’s almost like they have a specific song for every state of mind, mood, feeling you have! I wish someday I can attend to their gig here in Brazil! Or maybe I will have to move the UK? Only time will tell though…
I will finish my post here, I hope I didn’t bore you to death with my writing.
If you have anything you would like to ask me, there is a “questions” sections in this very website! You can ask me anything, and as long as it isn’t offensive or anything like that I will answer asap!
See you on the next post! :-)
